Mariya Salas

Instructor
Instruments— Violin Instructor

Mariya Salas has been an active teacher and performer in her community since 2014. She is a trained Suzuki Violin teacher and also has a background in traditional violin instruction and early childhood music development. Ms. Salas graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor's in Music Performance and a Suzuki Pedagogy Certificate. Throughout her career in music she has had incredible opportunities to perform in many different orchestras, play in small ensembles, solo performances, competitions, and intimate events, and perform alongside world-renowned musicians.

As a teacher, her top priority is to help students grow as musicians and people, and is committed to providing the very best instruction for students. From the first lesson, she places a strong focus on proper techniques, skills, and habits that will benefit students throughout their entire violin journey. Ms. Salas works with students and parents to help them practice effectively, teach them tips and tricks to make practice enjoyable, and cultivate a love for learning and making beautiful music.

Dr. Suzuki once said "Beautiful tone, beautiful heart." His approach was to teach students music, but far greater than that, he wanted to help create beautiful people. Mariya hold this philosophy close in her own teaching. She realizes that while few of her students will become professional musicians, every one of them will need the life skills we learn from playing an instrument. I strive to cultivate a community of parents and students who work hard, find creative solutions, look at the bigger picture, develop self-discipline, encourage those around them, and grow a love for beautiful music.

When not teaching Mariya enjoys spending time with her little family, traveling, cooking, and DIY projects.
