- proficient in music theory and reading music
- Experience in solo and group performance

- Positive, encouraging, firm, and effective teaching style
- Ability to adjust teaching style to meet a student’s needs and abilities
- Familiarity with developmental stages of children and teens
- Creativity is highly encouraged
- Set high expectations tempered by nurturing kindness and empathy
- EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATOR
- Effective communication with parents, students, and administration
- PROACTIVE SELF-MARKETER

- Effectively communicate your needs with the administration as this is a team effort

- Maintain good conduct in the studio and outside of the studio in the community

- Be early for your lessons

- Effective use of your complimentary MyMusicStaff.com account to keep an accurate record of your lessons, and to take attendance immediately after each lesson has occurred
- MANAGE MAKE-UP LESSONS
- MUST effectively manage make-up lessons
- STUDIO POLICIES
- MUST adhere to Rosendale’s 88 Keys Academy Policies
- LESSON PLANNING
- Prepare effective and efficient lessons ahead of time
- RECITALS
- Participation in our 4 recitals each year is highly encouraged
- CONTINUING EDUCATION
- Actively participate in activities and classes that grow and develop you professionally and as a musician, virtually or in-person
- COMMUNITY
- Stay connected to other teachers and our administration through Slack.com
- CLEANLINESS
- Leave the practice room nicer than you found it
- Dress appropriately and modestly
- Maintain a kempt appearance
- INVOICE & PAYMENT
- Send a detailed monthly invoice to 88keysacademy@gmail.com by the 1st of the month to receive payment for services rendered
- IRS RECORD KEEPING
- As a Private Contractor you are responsible for reporting your income to the IRS
INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS:
- Business license registered with Yolo County
- Purchase and provide proof of liability insurance
- Submit to background check
- Submit a W-9
- Access to phone, internet, and email
- Purchase and provide materials needed for lessons
STUDIO RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Marketing and drawing in students alongside instructor efforts
- Passing on referrals to our teachers at our discretion
- Providing a comfortable, clean practice room
- Providing pianos, music stands, chairs and tables as needed
- Billing and accepting payment from all students and their families
- Handling all billing issues
- Organizing four recitals per year, 2 large recitals and 2 smaller recitals
- Managing the yearly calendar
- Providing payment for lessons taught by the 10th of every month
